Video Diary: Sailing Southern Thailand

Evert Lamb February 5, 2014 1

I recently had the opportunity to take a sailing trip around the Thai Islands off the coast of Phuket. Myself, along with other travellers from around the globe boarded our catamaran and set sail for open water.

Every day, we enjoyed amazing scenery on the calm waters of the Andaman Sea. Lush jungles and jagged cliff walls were abundant as we explored the numerous small beaches and towns, taking in as much local culture as possible.

The crew on board had plenty of local insight, which gave us access to the right places at the right times. We enjoyed days full of warm weather while snorkeling, hiking and seeking out wildlife, or else just simply relaxing on the deck of the catamaran. At night we would explore the small villages that speckled the islands. The meals our cook prepared on the boat were some of the best found anywhere while on trip – on board or on land. We got to enjoy a healthy mix of traditional and modern Thai dishes, with some western options thrown in from time to time.

Thailand has more to offer than I could have ever imagined. The Islands in the south are much different than the jungles to the north, and both are incomparable to the bustling metropolitan cities. There is always a new experience waiting around the corner in Thailand.

Here is a video of the highlights of my time sailing in Southern Thailand.
