This tiny West African nation is steeped in culture and colonial history. It is believed that voodoo (locally referred to as vodun) originated in Benin and was introduced to the Caribbean and parts of North America by slaves taken from this particular area of the Slave Coast. About 60 percent of the population of Benin practice vodun.

If I have a choice to go somewhere "everyone" goes or somewhere "no one" goes, I'll always choose the latter. That's what I did when I decided to go to Africa. Kenya and Tanzania obviously sound amazing, but who wouldn't want to check out what exactly is going on in Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso
