What are Voluntours?
Our Voluntour adventures have been designed to give back to the communities and regions we visit. They offer our travellers the chance to complement their dream adventures with volunteer opportunities at one of our many Planeterra Community Projects. For travellers with a few hours, a few days or a few dollars to spare, Planeterra’s range of projects offer a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people in communities around the world.
We embrace every opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of our travellers and the people and places we visit. Benefits include greater cultural immersion, more time in the local community and the ability to take a hands-on approach to bringing about positive change. Our goal is to ensure an authentic and unforgettable life-changing experience for everyone with whom we come in contact!
What is Planeterra?
The Planeterra Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and support of small communities around the globe through travel and voluntourism. Founded in 2003, Planeterra evolved from the efforts of committed travellers seeking ways to give back to the people and places they visit.
A number of travel industry collaborators, led by founding partner G Adventures, help support Planeterra’s unique and high-impact approach to helping local communities. Through contribution matching and the generosity of all partners in covering overhead costs, donations go directly to the people, places and projects that need the most help.
How to Help
The simplest way to help is to check out our selection of projects and make a donation to one that resonates with your interests. However, the most effective way is to research our voluntours and experience one for yourself! Contributing on a personal level opens us up to other ideas, cultures and ways of living and serves as an inspiration to make a difference in the lives of people and communities to which we have travelled. The value of a dollar can go a long way in developing countries around the world—and a helping hand can change the lives of an entire family or community.
