Guatemala mudslide update

11 Oct 2005

October 11, 2005 - At least 500 people have been killed, and authorities believe hundreds more were buried alive in a mudslide in the town of Panabaj, about 160 kilometers (100 miles) west of Guatemala City.

The damage from Hurricane Stan was sustained mainly in the western highlands of Guatemala. Many roads in the area were closed due to mudslides and washed out bridges, and are slowly being reopened.

No G Adventures groups or clients have been affected and trips through this region will continue to run as scheduled at this time. G Adventures continues to monitor the situation on the ground with our local operations and will provide any further updates if developments arise.
