G Adventures CEO Presents at World Tourism Conference in Brazil

30 Nov 2006

November 30, 2006 - Bruce Poon Tip, CEO of G Adventures, spoke today about our company’s commitment to Responsible Travel at the UN World Tourism Forum for Peace and Sustainable Development in Porto Alegre, Brazil. This was a very special honour for G Adventures as we were the only tour operator invited to present.

Bruce was invited by the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism to the conference which was attended by over 6,000 participants and supported by the United Nations – World Tourism Organization (WTO), United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Environment Program – as well as the Brazilian Government and the Tourism for Peace and Sustainable Development Foundation.

The World Tourism Forum for Peace and Sustainable Development is working to develop practices for the tourism industry worldwide that promote economic and social development, the promotion of cultural diversity, the protection of biodiversity, and the establishment of conditions for peace to prevail.

G Adventures is committed to offering low-impact tours that benefit traveller and host. We work with local communities, businesses and individuals to develop sustainable tourism opportunities that help local economies while minimizing negative environmental and cultural impacts. In recognition of our leadership of socially responsible tour operations, we have been named to Conde Nast Traveler’s Green List and have been awarded the Ethics in Action Millenium Award.
