Local children help G Adventures ring in the holiday season

10 Dec 2007

December 10, 2007 - This past weekend, G Adventures proudly hosted the 3rd annual community holiday party for local children at the Scadding Court Community Centre in downtown Toronto. More than 250 children between the ages of 6 and 12, along with their parents, enjoyed a delicious turkey lunch, arts and crafts activities organized by G Adventures staff, music and games as well as a special visit and gift from Santa.

"G Adventures is proud to be able to produce this event each year," said Bruce Poon Tip, CEO of G Adventures. "I think our staff gets as much from this event as the children do. We support projects worldwide, but it's nice to be able to also support initiatives in Toronto, where our head office is located."

"The kids really look forward to this event each year," noted Kevin Lee, Executive Director of Scadding Court Community Centre. "This is the third year G Adventures has hosted a Christmas party for the children, most of whom are newcomers to Canada. For some, this is the only Christmas they will have this year and G Adventures' efforts to provide a memorable event is of particular importance. The commitment from G Adventures to the community is obvious not only at the corporate level, but among their staff who turned out in high numbers to organize games, carve tukeys, serve food and clean up. This kind of relationship between the corporate and the community sector is what creates healthy communities."

Scadding Court Community Centre is a multi-service agency organization with a mandate to foster the well-being of the community through social, recreation and educational programs.
