May 8, 2008 - Bruce Poon Tip, CEO of G Adventures recently received an invitation to join Colombia's Vice President, The Honourable Francisco Santos Calderón, at a private dinner at the hip new restaurant, One, in Toronto.

“We are big admirers of G Adventures,” the invitation read. “We want to understand firsthand the successful story of G Adventures and its experience in Latin America, as well as to exchange ideas.”

“He was there to seek advice on stimulating tourism to Colombia,” said Poon Tip. “We spoke in detail about the many highlights Colombia has to offer, and how it has become such an emerging tourist destination. Vice President Santos was well informed about G Adventures.”

This year, G Adventures released a new adventure called Colombia Highlights. Travellers can explore the traditional villages and markets of northern Colombia, its superb beaches as well as the colonial architecture and unique National Parks.

“Vice President Santos was familiar with our adventures and even sketched out a few ideas for new tours in his country, including mountain climbing, rafting and visiting the lost city (La Ciudad Perdida),” commented Poon Tip. “He shared photos on his Blackberry of some of the locations he was suggesting and invited me to visit his country.”

Vice President Santos was especially interested in the work of Planeterra, G Adventures’ non profit organization. “We also discussed the available opportunities for partnerships with local non profit organizations in Colombia,” said Poon Tip.
