Discovery Adventures Debuts Eight Unforgettable New Trips to Europe, Africa and Asia

Discovery Channel-inspired line-up includes exclusive exploration of local culture

Discovery Adventures debuts its 2011 brochures, introducing eight new Discovery Channel-inspired trips to Greece, Italy, France, Turkey, Japan, Indochina and Kenya. Adventurers can explore archaeological sites near Athens, indulge in the fine vintages of rural Tuscany, trek across wildlife parks in East Africa or dive into hot springs in the Japanese Alps. Each of these expertly-guided trips—ranging from eight to 15 days—includes daily breakfast, comfortable accommodations, and a selection of amenities.

Discovery Adventures has also teamed with Planeterra, a non-profit organization that provides long-lasting, renewable investment in projects around the world, presenting travelers with opportunities to give back to the communities and environment in the places they visit. The 2011 itineraries introduce more visitors to Planeterra’s community-building projects, providing immersive cultural experiences and insight into the meaningful effect travel has on local residents.

“These new itineraries offer the very best in cultural interaction, unique historical encounters and unforgettable experiences,” said Sue Perez-Jackson of Discovery Adventures. “They pull Discovery Channel viewers out of their living rooms and bring them face-to-face with the people and places they see on our network every day.”

Some of the highlights found in the new 2011 brochures include:

• Classic Japan (AJCJD) — Gain private access to a former Geisha teahouse and an hour of maiko or geiko cultural entertainment with conversation and dance.

• Italy Culture and History Explored (EICHD) — Explore Venice at night with an evening vaporetto ride down the Grand Canal, and take a ‘Secret Itineraries’ tour of Doge’s Place.

• Kenya Wildlife Safari (DKKWD) — Visit the Morani reserve and interact up-close with a blind black rhino rescued from the wild.

• Turkish Treasures (ETTTD) — Enjoy a traditional Turkish dinner with a local family in Cappadocia.

For the past 25 years, Discovery Channel has turned its legions of viewers into armchair adventurers by bringing the world’s great cultures, destinations and natural habitats directly into their living rooms. Teaming up with G Adventures to create Discovery Adventures (www.discoveryadventures.com) – an innovative new line-up of affordable itineraries for travelers seeking to immerse themselves in exotic cultures, ancient customs, and awe-inspiring wilderness – viewers now have the chance to experience the wonders of their favorite programs first-hand.
