G Adventures, the leading small-group adventure travel tour operator, announces details of its 2013 product line-up. The company’s expanded roster of more than 730 tours includes trips to 12 new countries – Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, Croatia, Iceland, Scotland, Montenegro, Sweden, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Albania, and Serbia – plus the expansion of the Local Living™ program. A variety of new tours are featured in the company’s Earth brochure that will be available mid-October.
“2013 is a big year for G Adventures with a number of new initiatives and programs that are expected to change the adventure travel industry. We’re excited to roll out the new line-up and take the G Experience to new countries, some of which very few operators offer tours in. We delved deeper to uncover some of the most amazing cultures and communities around the world,” says Bruce Poon Tip, G Adventures’ founder. “Travellers can continue to expect the same unique and sustainable experiences, coupled with the best customer service in the world. Our 2013 line-up also echoes the innovation we’ve been consistently recognized for.”
Explore Australia & New Zealand with G Adventures
For the first time in the operator’s 22-year history, G Adventures is introducing a comprehensive collection of tours in Australia and New Zealand. The destinations complete the company’s product line-up as the seventh and last continent where it operates tours.
“There was a huge opportunity for us in Australia and New Zealand to create truly unique and different experiences. The market was previously saturated with programs that follow the same routes and visit the same sites,” says Neil Geddes, G Adventures’ Operations Consultant. “We’ll definitely show our travellers the highlights, but we’ll also immerse them in the rare and exciting cultures and regions of Australia and New Zealand to get them beneath the surface of the countries. Experiences include spearfishing excursions, visits to working cattle stations and aboriginal communities, and island-hopping yacht journeys. Accommodations are equally unique – teepees in hippie communes, canvas swags under the stars, safari tents out in the bush, secluded eco-lodges and bunkhouses at authentic sheep stations.”
Launched in response to demand from partners and travellers, the program consists of four major routes: Sydney to Cairns and Melbourne to Darwin in Australia and the North Island and South Island in New Zealand. Travellers have the option to focus on one entire route or combine sections to create a customized itinerary. Tours vary from three to 21 days and are available in Yolo™ and G-Plus trip styles.
On the three-day Northern Aboriginal Experience, curious travellers learn about Aboriginal history, culture and contemporary life straight from the indigenous people themselves with opportunities to study ancient traditions, make native artwork, learn how to hunt and cook, wander the beaches and lush valleys along the Daintree River, and embark on a life-affirming rainforest walk.
Travellers on the six-day Best of the North Island adventure take the back road to a remote conservation farm, kayak to a secluded harbour for a picnic lunch, stay at a coastal eco-camp in native bush land in the famous surf and arts town of Raglan, visit the geothermal area of Rotorua to witness boiling mud pools and geysers, and enjoy a traditional Maori dinner. Guests also have the opportunity to take bone-carving lessons from local Maori and experience New Zealand’s best one-day walk – Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
On the five-day Going Ghan tour, guests travel on the famous Ghan train through the remote outback, spot crocs in the wetlands of Corroboree Billabong, explore the waterfalls and swimming holes of Kakadu National Park, visit an aboriginal art and craft centre, and witness sandstone cliffs and giant termite mounds.
Departures for all Australia and New Zealand tours begin January 2013.
Local Living™ Expansion
Introduced for the first time last year and unique to G Adventures, Local Living™ tours bring travellers close to the land and its people by embedding them in local life. Guests stay in one place, truly live like the locals, and actively explore the regions. The Amalfi Coast and Southern Tuscany 2012 tours completely sold out. Following the success of its launch, the program was expanded to include 23 new trips for 2013.
“Feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive and past travellers have already expressed interest in the same form of travel in other destinations around the world. Despite being aggressive with the number of departures for a first-year product, Local Living™ performed extremely well and was a huge success,” says Leah Griffin, Innovation Manager. “The program is an entirely new product offering to the market and we're expecting similar feedback from travellers in 2013 when we’ll have a Local Living™ tour in virtually every region.”
Perfect for nature enthusiasts, active hikers and shutterbugs, travellers on the seven-day Iceland adventure explore the country’s geothermal features and hot springs and witness calving glaciers, crystal-clear rivers and crashing waterfalls. Active options include ice-snorkelling, whale watching, whitewater canoeing, glacier hiking, caving and ATV excursions. Dinners feature home-cooked Icelandic specialties.
The seven-day Ecuador Jungle tour immerses travellers in the dramatic and lush scenery of the tropical Amazon rainforest where they live with a local family, learn Quichua traditions and experience life in the jungle first-hand. Participants visit an animal rescue centre, hone their blowgun skills, take part in a jungle cooking class and artisan crafts sessions, and experience a shaman healing ceremony and jungle marriage ceremony.
On the eight-day San Gimignano tour, guests forge a deeper bond with the destination with plenty of opportunities to savour the gastronomical delights of Tuscan cuisine, visit Chianti and Brunello vineyards, discover medieval highlights, and embrace their inner artist wandering the Tuscan countryside.
Departures for all Local Living™ tours begin February 2013.
100% Guaranteed Departures
Echoing its commitment to leading with service, the operator promises guaranteed departures – no exceptions – on all of its tours from January 1, 2013 onwards. An industry first, travellers can now make reservations with confidence knowing their trip is guaranteed to depart, and take advantage of earlier flight prices.
