Experience the true arctic on the Monaco Glacier

One of the few spots left in the world where polar bears can be seen in their natural habitat, Monaco Glacier provides travelers on Arctic cruises with the chance to see an environment few are brave enough to explore.
The glacier is most easily accessed by way of the Svalbard Islands. The official territory of Norway, the islands have been a source for arctic adventure since their discovery. Originally a large whaling region, the archipelago is now nearly fully protected by three nature reserves, six  national parks and 15 sanctuaries.
Journeying to the glacier by boat is quite an adventurous trip. Braving some of the coldest temperatures on Earth, travelers will dart between ice sheets on their way to Monaco. Travelers often marvel at the diamond-like texture of the ice, sparkling like a sheet of gems against beams of sunlight that reach its surface.
Beyond the visuals, Monaco Glacier offers guests an audible symphony, as large chunks of ice will rumble into the ocean's depths several times throughout a trip. Often many times larger than the boat, these thunderous reminders give travelers a sense of humility in this strong elemental environment.
