Developed as a getaway for Thailand's wealthy citizens in the 1920's, Hua Hin's charms remain just as accessible to foreign travelers in the 21st century.
While the haunts of Hua Hin may not have all the heritage of some of Thailand's sights, the city's early 20th century charms give visitors the chance to step briefly back in time. The Sofitel Centara Grand Resort and Villas continue to enchant guests with their charming hospitality. High Tea is still served with traditional tea scones in the hotel's oldest wing, while the surrounding gardens and their enthralling topiary creations embody the artistic notes of the time period.
A classic no matter what part of Thailand one is in, the Night Markets gives visitors a chance to interact with locals and sample the endemic wares.
Although the city is now more open to commoners, lucky travelers may have a chance spotting of Thailand's King and Queen while visiting. The royal couple's primary residence, the Klai Kangwon Palace, is found just north of town.
