Angkor Wat: The world's largest Hindu temple

Southeast Asia is home to some of the oldest structures in the world, many of which appeal to adventure travel enthusiasts. While there's a long list to choose from, it's hard to ignore the pull of Angkor Wat, the largest Hindu temple in the world. Since the 1100s it has stood as a testament to the architects of the era.
Located in Cambodia, the sacred site attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, and it's easy to understand why. The site in total covers somewhere around 154 square miles and aside from the temple, includes a forested area that has become a popular spot among tourists.
Though there are many areas to visit, one spot travelers shouldn't miss is the Temple of Bayon. This temple in particular is world renowned for the many towers of stone faces (think Easter Island heads) that populate the area. There are about 54 towers total, each containing four faces, certainly something not many see anywhere else.
Of course, Bayon is not the only spot to visit. The other sites tourists should put on their lists include Baphuon, The Elephant Terrace and the monastic complex of Banteay Kdei.
