Float into dreamland in Kanchanburi

Although adventurous travelers often head to a destination based on its sights, where one will lay their head at night should hold at least some clout in a traveler's lodging. In Kanchanburi, Thailand, floating raft houses provide a unique cultural experience as well as a lovely place to literally drift off to sleep.
All riverside accommodations float along the historic River Kwai, made famous by the iconic bridge that was the namesake for a popular novel and World War II film.
Sam's House is one such lodging option, whose floating raft house is found among lush, beautiful gardens. With bamboo huts and stilted bungalows available, the accommodation offers more than enough reason for a stay.
The Kasem Island Resort has a number of well-kept floating rafts for rent. Found along the river, childhood dreams of a long journey down a rushing river come true here.
Pung Wan Resort, while having a number of luxury suites on land, also has several floating huts to offer. Although less elegant, the experience of the huts is well worth any time spent "roughing it."
