Small is beautiful Huerquehue

While Chile has much bigger parks than Huerquehue, this remote park offers travelers the tranquility of abundant nature that is perfect for any hiking enthusiast.
The park's main trail takes guests through winding routes of dense lenga and araucaria forest, an evergreen species with almost cartoon-like definition in its branches. Park routes can also lead guests around Huerquehue's three lakes, past multiple waterfalls - sometimes terminating in real-life blue lagoons - and to outstanding vistas of the nearby Villarica volcano.
Smaller than both Conguillio and Villarrica parks, Huerquehue boasts a wide number of great day hikes, perfect for adventurous travelers wanting to take in a little more scenery albeit on a more forgiving terrain. The shorter walks also provide rugged families with beautiful scenery that trekkers of all ages can enjoy. However, hikers should also be up for a bit of a challenge, as many of the pathways lead through and along steep wooded slopes. However, due to the plethora of trees, most visitors will stay remarkably shaded and cool along their hikes. For those still a little too sweaty, the park's lakes offer the perfect place for a dip.
