Some of the best volcanoes to visit

Volcanoes have long been a popular destination for adventure travelers. Often surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges that offer splendid hikes, volcanoes can be beautiful places to visit and explore.

Mount Stromboli, in Italy, is a very popular destination. Located on the island of Sicily, the volcano has been active for a longtime and eruptions are very common. There are plenty of local tours that will wind you around the volcano so you can see it up close. Climb to an observation deck 200 meters above the active crater for the best view.

Located on the Galapagos Islands, the Sierra Negra volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. As one of the five volcanoes on islands, Sierra Negra boasts the second largest active crater in the world. A visit to this volcano is sure to guarantee you spectacular views of the island.

Mount Vesuvius may be best know for freezing the town of Pompeii, Italy, in time. Today, the volcano is one of the most visited places, due to the fact that the ash petrified everything it touched in 79 A.D, and left behind a piece of history. Trek up the mountain and pass the remains of houses, pottery and other artifacts before seeing the crater.

In order to preserve the natural and historical integrity of the volcanoes, it is recommended that you travel with a small group.ADNFCR-3357-ID-19921802-ADNFCR
