Though some may associate Switzerland most with its delicious chocolate, the small European country has one of the most beautiful landscapes in the continent. The natural appeal is available to adventure travel enthusiasts around every corner, but perhaps nowhere is that more true than in the Engadin Valley.
Engadin is located in the Swiss Alps in the southeastern part of the country. Throughout much of the year, the region is blessed with beautiful weather to accompany its spectacular landscape. The area also often attracts a large number of adventure travelers thanks to having conditions that are well-suited for outdoor sports.
Among the many hotspots for outdoor activities is Lake Sils. Situated in the upper region of the valley, this pristine lake is a haven for windsurfers. However, if visitors are not looking for an adrenaline rush, it is also offers a breathtaking panorama like few other places on earth.
Though it is flush with natural beauty, Engadin Valley also has something for architecture and history buffs by way of Tarasp Castle. The striking building can trace its roots back to the 11th century and is situated atop rocks that stand more than 328 feet above the valley floor.
