France is known for having more than 200 types of cheeses and more artisan breads than you can imagine. Travelers heading to Paris this month should check out some of the great local food markets in order to get an authentic taste of France without breaking the bank at an expensive five star restaurant.
There are two food festivals in Paris this November, that will strive to give locals and visitors alike a new perspective on French food, according to the New York Times.
The Salon Papilles en Fete will run from November 11-14, and will bring together more than 200 artisan food and wine makers who will be focusing on new culinary trends. The festival, which is in its third year, will strive to bring together those who cook the food and those who produce it, according to the news source.
With foods that range from caviar d'escargot (snail's eggs) to salmon, the festival will also feature cooking classes and demonstrations on molecular gastronomy.
For those looking for more traditional French food, head over to the Marche des Producteurs, an outdoor food market that is sponsored by the French Chamber of Agriculture. From November 20-21, the focus of the festival is authenticity. Vendors and farms that are participating can only sell food that they have created from scratch.
The best way to explore France is with a small group of adventure travelers.
