Old Town the highlight of Warsaw

As the political and economic center of Poland, Warsaw has played an integral role in the history of the central European country. But aside from its historical significance, the Polish capital has also become a popular adventure travel destination for tourists the world over thanks in large part to the appeal of the city's Old Town.
As the name would suggest, Old Town is the oldest part of the city and dates as far back as the 1200s. The section of the city is home to some of the most famous buildings in the country including the Royal Castle. For centuries, the Royal Castle served as the home to king and his administrative offices, but has since become a large tourist draw thanks to its many impeccably restored rooms.
While the Royal Castle may be a symbol of Warsaw's lengthy history, it is not the only popular landmark in Old Town. Among the other iconic spots in the city are Sigismund's Column, which dates back to 1644 and stands more than 72 feet tall, and the Barbican, a remaining vestige of the fortifications that used to protect the city hundreds of years ago.
