Small towns around Madrid to visit

When visiting Spain on your next adventure travel trip, make sure to stop by the capital city of Madrid and explore a city that is rich in history. For those who are planning a longer stay in the central Spanish city, take the chance to explore some nearby towns that are just a train ride away.
A 30 minute train ride from Madrid will let you explore the beautiful city of Toledo, where synagogues, churches and mosques stand side by side on small narrow streets. The city, which is located ontop of a large hill near the Tagus River, inspired the artist El Greco, more than 400 years ago. Walk through the old Jewish quarter and visit the Casa y Museo de El Greco.
The small museum was once the artist's studio and features a copy of his famous masterpiece "The View of Toledo."
Travelers can also take a 35-minute train ride to Aranjuez, where King Philip II built a beautiful getaway cottage. Make sure to visit the intricately decorated Palacio Real, where each room has a different theme. Head outside and explore the 741 acres of landscaped gardens that are decorated with various sculptures and fountains.
The best way to explore Spain is with a small group of adventure travelers.
