Take a European vacation with a twist

Many individuals plan trips to Europe with activities such as sightseeing, sampling regional cuisine and museum hopping in mind. For those who are interested in adventure travel, however, there is just one must-do in Europe - and it does not include a trip to the Louvre.
Adventure travelers should consider planning a trip to the Alps for what may be the most extreme activity outside of heli-skiing that one can attempt in the region. Individuals can book their plane tickets for Switzerland, Italy or France to get started on one of the world's most popular long-distance walk/running circuits.
The Tour du Mont Blanc passes through three alpine European countries and covers a distance of roughly 170 kilometers. Individuals who are interested in walking the circuit should keep in mind that it is typically undertaken in a counterclockwise direction beginning in either Les Houches or Les Contamines in France, Courmayuer in Italy, or Martigny in Switzerland. For those who do not have seven to 10 days to spare walking, there is an ultramarathon each August that follows the same course and is routinely finished by the winner in less than 24 hours.
This sort of adventurous trip should be planned with a small group of travelers.
