The melodies of Salzburg

The birthplace of Mozart and the location of the epic musical "The Sound of Music," Austria travel doesn't get much more melodic than the city of Salzburg.
The city provides a great area to stretch one's legs, with plenty of sites to see throughout Salzburg's old and new districts. Classical music fans can pay homage to the famous composer in Mozart Square, or they can catch a show of Mozart's classic music at the cleverly-named Mozarteum. A world-class venue richly decorated in 18th-century lighting and ornamentation, guests may even feel as though they have stepped back in time.
The hills surrounding this enchanting town can be sung from or hiked through, both of which continue to be popular options for all visitors. Rich green grasses cover the terrain, often making way for breathtaking views of the blue-white mountain ranges of the Alps.
Fans of "The Sound of Music" have a wide range of options from which to reenact or watch a live version of the film in town. The Sound of Salzburg Dinner Show provides guests with a chance to sample rich Austrian cuisine while indulging in movie fantasies, while the Mirabell Palace and Gardens give all a sense of awe.
