Pompeii is a well known city because of the dramatic way that everything was preserved when Mount Vesuvius erupted. The ash and sediment settled on the city and encased everything that was remaining in a plaster-like preservative. Travelers looking to plan their next adventure travel trip should head to Italy's southern city before the historical site fades away.
It was reported this weekend that one of the most archaeologically significant building in the ancient city of Pompeii had recently collapsed, according to CNN. The House of Gladiators crumbled to the ground early in the morning, and while the cause of the collapse is unknown the impact has rippled throughout archaeological world.
The building was thought to have been used by gladiators to train or relax before entering the ring, according to the news source. While the house was closed to the public, it was a very popular attraction.
However, many archaeologists are worried that 2,000 years of existence is starting to take its toll on the site and that those who want to learn more about the ancient city should visit before it's too late.
The best way to experience Pompeii is to travel with a small group of adventure travelers.
