See massive elephant populations in Amboseli National Park

After two years of severe drought and uncertainty about dwindling wildlife populations, Amboseli National Park in Kenya is ready to welcome adventurous travelers once again.
This nature reserve is filled with a large number of elephants that are free to roam around a 1,200 square-mile range. Though the park technically only protects 150 square-miles of land, these graceful creatures have much more space to explore, and so do the adventure seekers that come to visit.
As one UK Telegraph reporter, Richard Madden, drove across Amboseli with a guide, he encountered some 350 elephants marching through the park.
This is not a normal sight, said the guide. The loss of so many mothers and calves in the drought had led to a "safety in numbers" way of life, rather than the usual family-structured groups, wrote Madden.
It is a sad thought, "but in a wide-open landscape," "with the backdrop of Kilimanjaro, it was a sight of epic proportions," Madden explains.
Travelers who choose to explore this wildlife sanctuary will sleep in camps that are simple yet elegant.
Adventure travel in Amboseli is best experienced when with small group of explorers.
