Adventure travelers can embark on a mountainous excursion in Marrakech

According to Fodor's, Marrakech, Morocco is the jewel of the south and the country's most intoxicating city. Once a major trading port on the ancient caravan routes from Timbuktu, this north African locale may be a wonderful place for exploration and adventure travel.
AOL Travel outlines a fantastic trekking tour through the Berber Trail that bold and athletic travelers may enjoy. The route takes hikers up the High Atlas Mountains and through four separate valleys - which provide excellent opportunities for scenic views. Groups can continue to climb along old mule trails to arrive at the oldest Berber village - home to the indigenous people of the area in Toubkal Massif-Tacheddirt. Small towns and hamlets are scattered throughout the valleys, and visitors may enjoy stopping for lunch or relaxation beside one of the many mountain springs.
Individuals who are interested in adventure travel may enjoy exploring this area and camping out over night. A hike through the Atlas Mountains up to the valleys near its summit typically takes around two days. Visitors to Marrakech who wish to embark on such a journey should keep in mind that an exciting climb such as this is best undertaken with a small group of adventure travelers.
