Heading out to one of King Herod's palaces

The Middle East has long been considered a great destination for adventure travel, thanks to its long and rich history. Head to Jerusalem and explore the area where King Herod used to rule, and where his tomb and one of his palaces have now been fully excavated.
First found in 2008, the royal theater box at Herodium, the site of one of his palaces and his mausoleum, has now been fully uncovered, according to National Geographic.
The royal box once towered over the noblemen seats at the private ampitheater which was built close to 15 B.C.
Currently protected by wooden walls and a steel roof, King Herod's royal theater box is located at the foot of an artificial hill, which served as the base for the king's destroyed mausoleum, according to the news source.
"The moment a decision was made to dismantle the theater, it was used as housing by site managers and laborers responsible for the reconstruction work," Ehud Netzer, an archaeologist that worked on the site, told the news source. "They scrawled graffiti on the walls while they stayed there, mostly in Greek and Aramaic."
For the best experience, it is recommended that you travel with a small group of adventure travelers.
