Adventure Travel News

Take an extreme vacation outside of the continental U.S.

While technically part of the U.S., Alaska lies miles and miles away from the 48 contiguous states. Due to its location in one of the most northern regions in the world, it is a fantastic place for cold weather adventure travel and an exciting vacation locale.
There are many things that individuals who are interested in adventure travel may want to do in Alaska. However, the most exciting may be air trekking. This activity essentially drops hikers into bear infested areas by helicopter so that they can get as close a look at these wild animals in their natural habitats as possible. The best location to engage in this pursuit is Homer, which provides trekkers with an electric fence surrounded camp site to sleep in at night.
For individuals who are looking for less death-defying adventure, a trip to Talkeetna may be more their style. Here, travelers can whitewater raft down Devil's Canyon, a river with Class 5 rapids. Though still dangerous, at least there are no wild animals involved in this activity.
This fun and exciting and exciting trip is best planned with a small group of adventure travelers.
