Small ship cruising is great for adventure travelers

The beauty of cruising on small ships isn't just the lack of thousands of people wearing fanny packs, it's the conversation the flows freely day and night, reports Anne Campbell, the editor of ShipCritic.
Talking is the main form of activity on these vacations. With an open seating dining policy and only one lounge, it's virtually impossible not to enjoy the company of others.
"But the main reason for taking a small ship is discovering the few remaining places on earth untouched by tourism," states Campbell. "Many of them are only accessible by small ship. For example... Greenland," she adds.
Other exotic locations accessible only by small boat are the islands off the coast of Thailand, the Amazon River basin and the Galápagos Islands. All three of these places offer an exciting adventure that combine the best of water recreation and wildlife sightseeing.
Whether travelers are getting sea sprayed in the Arctic as they steer a sailboat or exploring the Amazonian jungle, there's no way for them to choose wrong.
Cruises are best when experienced with a small group of adventure travelers.
