Italy has long been a destination for people on adventure travel vacations. Head off the beaten path and down to Positano, a small town along Italy's Amalfi Coast, for a trip you won't forget.
Perched between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Lattari Mountains, there is plenty to explore in the small town that is lined with lemon and orange trees.
The fishing village rose to fame after John Steinbeck published an essay about the town, and it ran in Harper's Bazaar, according to CNN.
"Nearly always when you find a place as beautiful as Positano, your impulse is to conceal it," wrote Steinbeck in the 1950s.
While no longer a secret, the small town's beauty has people coming back every year.
When in Positano, visit the Sorrentine Peninsula, which is said to have some of the most picturesque coastline in Italy, so make sure that you pack your camera to snap up some shots. Wander from the Spiaggia Grande Beach and then wind your way around the downtown area of the town, where you will see some small cafes and boutiques.
The best way to explore Italy is with a small group of adventure travelers.
