Win a Travel Documentary Scholarship to the Amazon!

G Adventures invites you to go on assignment in the Amazon!

Entries are being accepted until August 1st, 2010 for anyone who desires to get their documentary film career underway by joining documentary producer Trent O'Donnell to learn the tools of the trade! If all goes well, your work could end up being broadcast on National Geographic Adventure!

On your journey of discovery and adventure, you'll document the raw nature of the Amazon rainforest, while learning local traditions by living with an indigenous Quichua community.

While Trent O'Donnell will be filming a documentary on Sustainable Tourism, he will be guiding you along as you find your own personal story and create your own documentary. The lucky scholarship recipient will have their documentary considered for broadcast on Nat Geo Adventure! That's right - the holy grail documentary makers work their whole lives to achieve !

The Assignment Details

You will be joining G Adventures' founder, Bruce Poon Tip, as he revisits Ecuador's spectacular Andean Interior and Amazon lowlands. It's been 20 years since the first G Adventures trip was run in the Amazon and alongside Bruce you will gain unique access and insight into the lives of the Quichua community understanding how sustainable tourism has positively impacted their community.

The Assignment Perks and Works

  • We'll fly you to Quito, Ecuador from your country of residence.

  • You need to be available to travel in the last 2 weeks of September 2010 to participate in the project.

  • Under the mentorship of Trent O'Donnell you will shoot a video documentary about your experience.

  • Together with Trent, you'll edit your 3 minute documentary and submit it to our partner World Nomads within 2 months of your return.

  • You will keep a daily diary and upload this, plus pictures, to your World Nomads travel journal.

Assignment Restrictions

  • This is open to film students, lovers of film or anyone who's trying to build a career in documentary making!

  • Minimum age 18 with a valid passport.

  • You must be fit and healthy as moderate levels of trekking are involved.

Assignment Applications

Showcase your existing video talents for consideration! Youtube is your friend, 3 minutes is your time limit, local encounters is the theme and originality is desired.
