Classic Asia

Amazement is the only constant

Asia is simply too massive, too sprawling and too overrun with wonders to sum up in a single paragraph, but we’ll do our best. If you’re looking for contrast and variety, this is the place to go. The diversity of landscapes, food, languages, art, and religion is simply overwhelming. The big-city bustle of Tokyo, Beijing, and Hong Kong set the brain buzzing, while the pastoral calm of rural Cambodia, colonial Vietnam, and India’s sacred sites remind you why you came in the first place.

Asia uncovered

There's way more to see and do in Asia than we could possibly cover in a few paragraphs. Here's just a few of the you-really-had-to-be-there experiences from our trips in this part of the world.

India | Kerala backwaters

Kerala is the birthplace of Ayurveda, a form of traditional medicine, and once you’ve been here, you’ll understand why. Crisscrossed by rivers, it’s a great place to restore yourself. After spending the night with local families here, you’ll be amazed at how refreshing travelling can feel.

Uzbekistan | Old-time Bukhara

This Central Asian holy city is a model of the axiom of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” There are over 100 federally-protected mosques and heritage buildings in the old town, and one of our favourite things to do here is to drop in for a treatment at a hammam that’s been in business since the 1500s.

China | Pastoral Yangshuo

Along the lovely Li River, take a leisurely pedal through the gorgeous countryside of southern China, riding past rice paddies, grazing water buffalo and limestone karst formations before taking lunch at a local farmhouse.
