Day 1 Rio de Janeiro
Arrive at any time.
Days 2-9 Salvador/Bahía/Pernambuco
Fly to Salvador. Optional city tour or excursion to Itapirca island. Free time to explore the heart of Afro-Brazilian culture. Arrive by overnight bus to Olinda. Optional city tour. Continue by bus to Praia da Pipa, with great beaches and a nearby wildlife sanctuary.
Days 10-21 Ceará/Piaui/Maranhão
Overnight bus to Fortaleza. Travel to the sand dunes of Jericoacoara for optional windsurfing, sandboarding or just relax on the beach. Included boat ride down the Parnaiba Delta to see small fishing villages, mangrove-clad rivers and remote beaches. Travel by bus and dune buggy to Sao Luis. Optional city tour or free time to explore. Overnight bus to Belem.
Days 22-26 Amazon River (3B,3L,3D)
Travel by public ferry down the Amazon River, from Belem to Manaus.
Days 27-31 Amazonas/Manaus
Optional excursion into the jungle from Manaus, or free time in the city to explore.
Days 32-41 Sta Elena/Canaima National Park/Mochima
Travel by overnight bus into Venezuela to Santa Elena. Included guided excursion to the Gran Sabana to observe the unique "tepuis," or table top mountains. Overnight bus journey to Ciudad Bolivar. Free time to explore the city's markets and museums. Optional overnight or multi-day tours available to Canaima National Park and Angel Falls. Travel by bus to Mochima National Park. Optional swimming and snorkelling or take a boat tour to some nearby islands. Continue by bus to Caracas on day 41.
