Explore the ancient city including visits to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, then take in a cooking demonstration with dinner. On Day 3 take a train excursion to Ostea Antica, to view some of the best-preserved Roman ruins in existence with a specialist guide. Option to visit the Vatican.
Travel to Sorrento, our base for the next four nights, visiting the dramatic temples of Paestum en route. We are welcomed to the south with a visit to a local limoncello producer to learn about this wonderful bevarage and enjoy a tasting.
Step back in time as we visit the ruins of ancient Pompeii with a local expert guide. Following this, we will head up to stare into the mouth of the great volcano Vesuvius.
Excursion today to the famous Amalfi Coast. Travel across the peninsula, taking the time to stop off for a short walk to dramatic viewpoints and visit historic villages. Our lunch stop is at a local agriturismo that specialises in home grown, delicious produce and offers spectacular views. The afternoon will be free for you to explore the coast, before returning by ferry.
Today we take a ferry to the island of Capri. We take an orientation walk and visit the imperial Villa Jovis - Emperor Tiberius' magnificent private residence featuring an ancient bathhouse and lighthouse. After this, the day is yours with the option to take a boat trip around the island, swim, hike or explore the town.
Today we travel to the city of Naples. After a lunch of traditional pizza we take a walk around the city, including a visit to the world-renowned National Archaeological Museum with its fine collection of classical sculptures.
