Day 1 Lima
Arrive at any time.
Day 2-3 Huancayo (2B)
Spectacular bus ride into the Andes to Huancayo. Optional hiking, biking or horseback riding or free time to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Day 4 Huancavelica (1B)
Opt to visit to the nearby mines or explore the city's market and hot springs.
Day 5-7 Ayacucho (3B)
Travel by public buses and private van through the highlands and remote communities of the Andes to Ayacucho. Free time for day tours to nearby archaeological sites, markets, an optional city tour or individual exploration.
Day 8-9 Andahuaylas (2B)
Opt to visit to the Sondor archaeological site, the Pacucha Lagoon or the market.
Day 10-11 Cusco (2B)
Free time to explore Cusco or take an optional city tour, head out whitewater rafting, horseback riding or mountain biking.
Day 12 Ollantaytambo (1B,1L)
Time for an optional visit of the Ollantaytambo ruins, to go shopping or to explore the narrow cobblestoned streets. Optional Sacred Valley tour, including a visit to a Planeterra-supported women's weaving co-op. Enjoy lunch at the Planeterra-supported Sacred Valley Community Restaurant in Huchuy Qosco, an indigenous village.
Day 13-16 Inca Trail/Machu Picchu (4B,3L,3D)
Take in Inca culture, history and great views on a 4-day guided Inca Trail hike with a visit to Machu Picchu. Planeterra-supported handmade biodegradable soap products for use on the Inca Trail. Optional visit to the Inca Bridge before returning to Cusco.
Day 17 Cusco (1B)
Depart at any time. We highly recommend booking pre- and post-accommodation to fully experience these lovely cities.
