In case you hadn’t noticed, Australia is an awfully big place. So big, in fact, that you’d need to come back a few times to get it all. Don’t have that kind of time? Hop aboard this 14-day trip through Australia’s eastern and central states and make the most of the time you do have. Offering a solid mix of must-do experiences and uncommon adventures, you’ll learn to surf at Byron Bay, sail the Whitsundays, sleep under the stars at a cattle station and go spearfishing with the local Aborigines. The best part: there’s still plenty more to come back for.

Day 1 Sydney

Arrive at any time.

Day 2 Sydney

Enjoy an orientation walk around the rocks and harbour with free time to explore.

Day 3 Uluru (1L,1D)

Morning flight to Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the Red Centre. Take the Mala Walk (1.5 hrs) then visit the cultural centre and experience sunset at the rock before a barbecue dinner.

Day 4 Kings Canyon (1B, 1L, 1D)

Get up for a stunning sunrise then head to Kata Tjuta for the Valley of the Winds walk (3 hrs). Enjoy a picnic lunch before driving to Kings Creek Station– a working cattle station– to sleep in a traditional swag under the stars.

Day 5 Alice/Cape Tribulation (1B)

Early start for the Rim Walk at Kings Canyon, taking in the best scenery of the area, before a drive to Alice Springs and flight to Cairns. Travel north to Cape Tribulation.

Days 6-7 Cape Tribulation/Cairns

Take an optional trip to the Great Barrier Reef, or explore the Daintree National Park. On Day 7, Stop en route to go spear fishing with the local aborigines, visit an indigenous artist, listen to dreamtime stories and take an interpretive rainforest walk.

Days 8-9 Airlie Beach/Whitsunday Islands (1B,1L,1D)

Travel day to reach Airlie Beach for an overnight moored on the yacht. Enjoy a long train ride for the bulk of this journey. Day 9, set sail in the for a day in the Whitsunday Islands and visit to the barrier reef. Spend a second night on board, moored in a secluded bay on Whitehaven Beach.

Days 10-11 Whitsundays/Byron Bay (1B,1L)

Sail to the mainland in the morning then fly to Brisbane and transfer to Byron Bay. On Day 11 hit the waves with an included surf lesson. Spend the afternoon wandering this hippie town or taking part in a multitude of optional activities.

Day 12 Bellingen

Head to the historic town of Bellingen. Spend the night in a historic country pub or lodge with gardens.

Day 13 Sydney

Enjoy a morning canoe trip to learn the history of the settlement before driving to Sydney for one final night in the city.
