Day 1 San José
Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer included.
Day 2 Sarapiquí (B)
Travel to Sarapiqui where a naturalist guide leads us on an educational hike through the rainforest and a visit to OTS (Organization for Tropical Studies) and the La Selva Biological Station. We also partake in a group Spanish lesson.
Day 3 Sarapiquí (B)
Visit the Tirimbina Rainforest Center with a local guide. Explore the forest across suspension bridges to a former cacao-tree plantation where we have a demonstration and opportunity to taste organic rainforest chocolate and learn about sustainable tourism practices. Option to visit a pineapple plantation.
Day 4 La Fortuna (B,L,D)
Travel to Fortuna. Relax at a local hot spring, and visit a local family for tortilla-making and a typical lunch.
Day 5 La Fortuna (B)
Visit to the Danaus Ecocenter for a guided walk. Option to raft whitewater rapids, take a safari float through the Caño Negro Reserve or hike to the La Fortuna Waterfall.
Day 6 Monteverde (B)
Travel to Monteverde cloud forest. Option to visit the butterfly garden or fly through the treetop canopy on ziplines.
Day 7 Monteverde (B)
Explore the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve with an expert naturalist and visit a coffee farm where an expert coffee guide takes us through the various aspects of coffee production, growing, harvest, processing and tasting.
Day 8 San Jose (B)
Return to San Jose.
