And nobody celebrates this most exalted of tubers quite like Croatia, home to the annual Truffle Days Festival. Beginning on the island of Cres, our adventure here will introduce you to the idyllic seaside communities of Croatia’s Adriatic Coast and let you partake in a genuine truffle hunt with a professional tartufalo before delivering you to the culinary tuberpalooza itself in Livade. Don’t forget to pack your appetite. (In fact, pack a spare, just in case.)

Day 1 Rijeka
Arrive at any time.
Day 2 Cres (1B)
Orientation walk around Cres and visit to an olive press, including an opportunity to participate in the harvest as well as taste the extra virgin oil direct from the source. Overnight in a local homestay.
Day 3 Motovun (1B)
Visit to the seaside village of Beli on Cres and walk along the local eco-centre's wildlife trails then transfer back to the mainland. Orientation walk in ancient Motovun.
Day 4 Motovun (1B)
Accompany a professional "tartufalo" and his dog as they search for truffles in the woods, then visit the famous Truffle Days festival in Livade. Opt to sample dishes made from freshly picked truffles or explore nearby Groznjan's art culture by taking in a concert, painting exhibition or a local art gallery.
Day 5 Rijeka (1B)
Opt to explore medieval Hum, the smallest town in the world before a morning transfer to Rijeka. Any onward travel should be booked after 2pm today.
