Explorama Lodge

Spend five days in the jungle, and out of your element! Located in an extensive primary rainforest Reserve 80km down the Amazon River from Iquitos, Started by teachers over 40 years ago, the lodge's newly renovated palm-thatched rooms exude a rustic romance. Explorama’s adventures include the Seven Bridges Trail walk, visits to a Yagua Indian village, a medicinal ethnobotanical garden, and a special full day excursion to one of the longest canopy walkways in the world.

Day 1 Iquitos/Explorama Lodge (L, D)

Arrive in Iquitos for a city tour. Cruise down the Amazon River to rustic Explorama Lodge. Enjoy a night walk or evening boat ride.

Day 2 Explorama Lodge (B, L, D)

Embark on an early morning birding excursion along Bushmaster Trail—the highest biodiversity of trees in the world. Visit a Yagua Indian village. Take a boating excursion in search of sloths and dolphins.

Day 3 Explorama Lodge (B, L, D)

Retrace Francisco de Orellano's journey to the mouth of the Napo River. Breakfast at ExplorNapo Lodge then hike the Canopy Walkway. Visit the shaman-cultivated "ReNuPeRu" Ethnobotanical Garden.

Day 4 Explorama Lodge (B, L, D)

Morning boat excursion to “Monkey Island”, a private reserve of protected primates—tamarins, saki, titi and large woolly monkeys. Lunch at Ceiba Tops Lodge. Hike through primary rainforest, or enjoy the lodge's waterslide, Jacuzzi and gardens.

Day 5 Explorama Lodge/Iquitos (B)

A morning river trail walk, stopping at a ribereños house and rum factory. Depart for Iquitos.
