Explore the geological wonders that have shaped Iceland on the Golden Circle tour, including a walk in Thingvellir National Park and visits to the Gullfoss Waterfall and Geysir Hot Springs. On Day 3, take an excursion to the Hveragerdi area and Reykjadalur Valley with a hike to a natural hot stream. Option to go rafting or horse back riding in the afternoon or just relaxing in the hot tub by the river at your guesthouse.
Visit the island’s south shore beginning with a walk behind Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. Stop at the black sand beaches then continue to Solheimajokull Glacier and view the infamous Eyjafjallajokull Volcano. Option to visit the Iceland Erupts exhibition. On Day 5, take an ice walk on Falljokull Glacier, part of Vatnajokull, Europe’s largest glacier. In the afternoon, we explore Ingolfshofdi Cape, in search of puffins and razorbills.
Visit the scenic Jökulsárlón Glacier lagoon with option to take a ride on a 'wheeled boat' for a closer look at the icebergs. Afterwards, walk along the black sand beach, to see where the icebergs meet the sea. This afternoon, take a scenic drive around Iceland’s East Coast before heading inland to the northern lakeside village of Myvatn. On Day 7, visit Myvatn's geothermal lake, the Dimmuborgir Lava Fields, a natural maze and hot mud pools. Option to visit the local geothermal pools or take a stroll around town.
Head north to Husavik, the whale capital of Iceland, where we embark on a whale-watching excursion. Later, visit Godafoss 'horseshoe' waterfalls before arriving in the town of Akureyri, Capital of the North.
Depart early, returning to Reykjavik. Option to take a culture and history tour of Reykjavik or visit the Blue Lagoon this afternoon.
