Imperial Morocco

The winding streets of Morocco’s ancient medinas are bursting with so many colors and flavors that you’ll be planning a return visit soon after arrival. Under the North African sun, explore the Roman ruins at Volubilis and weave through the shadows of medieval lanes in imperial cities. Travel is comfortable and well paced, allowing you to focus on the energy of this unique land and its people. Day 1 Casablanca

Arrive at any time. Transfer to hotel is included.

Day 2 Volubilis/Meknes (B)

Visit the Hassan II Mosque than travel to Volubilis, to explore this ancient Roman city. Arrive in Meknes for an orientation walk and an introductory language lesson.

Day 3 Meknes/Fez (B,L)

Visit a Middle Atlas village where we join local women to prepare typical Moroccan dishes, then enjoy lunch together. Continue to Fez for the evening.

Day 4 Fez (B,D)

Walking tour in Fez with demonstrations by local craftsmen, than enjoy a feast of local delicacies with traditional music in the medina.

Day 5 Demnate (B)

Travel into the High Atlas and spend the night at a kasbah ecolodge, built of earth and stone. Explore the area and villages to learn more of Berber culture.

Days 6-7 Marrakech (2B,1D)

Explore Marrakech on a walking tour of the medina including the Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Minaret, and the alleys of the bustling souks. We also have dinner at the local food market in Djemaa el Fna. On day 7 we learn more about traditional crafts from local artisans with hands-on demonstrations.

Day 8 Marrakech (B)
