The past and the future collide in present-day Japan on this eye-opening 11-day family adventure. It begins with a 2-day tour of the neon-bright streets of Tokyo that hits the city’s wonders, both modern and ancient. Later on, you’ll learn the secrets of the ninja in historic Uenoshi, explore shrines and wildlife parks in Nara and take a quiet moment to reflect in the peaceful grounds of Hiroshima Memorial Park. Rich with new experiences, exotic cuisine and compelling history, Japan appeals to the teenager in all of us. Bring yours!

Itinerary Notes

This trip is designed for parents and children to enjoy together. You will be travelling as part of a group of families with other children. The itinerary has been designed with the needs of the whole family in mind. We have given this trip a minimum age for this trip to allow you to be sure that you have the right trip for you and your family. Minimum age of 6 years for this trip. Please see the activities for any specific minimum age requirements.

Day 1 Tokyo (1D)

Arrive at any time.

Days 2-3 Tokyo (2B)

Two full days of sight-seeing around Tokyo. Sights visited include Tokyo Tower, Imperial Palace, Nijubashi Bridge, Meiji Jingu Shrine, Ginza, Harajuku and Shibuya districts. On the second day we visit Asakusa, Osu Kannon Temple, Nakamise Shopping Arcade and shopping in Ameyoko.

Day 4 Hakone (1B, 1D)

Take the train to Hakone and join the Hakone Tozan train, the Hakone Cable Car and ropeway. See black eggs cook in the sulphur of the mountain before crossing Lake Ashi on a galleon.

Day 5 Tsumago/Nagoya (1B)

Full day sightseeing by coach, visiting Tsumago and Magome. Continue to Nagoya where we spend the night.

Day 6 Uenoshi/Kyoto (1B)

Travel by train to Uenoshi, once home to a clan of ninjas. Visit the castle and ninja museum for a fascinating insight into a key part of Japanese history. Continue to Kyoto for the night.

Day 7 Kyoto (1B)

Full day sightseeing in Kyoto, including Nijo Castle, Kinaku-ji Golden Pavilion, Heian Jingu Shrine, Kiyomizu Temple.

Day 8 Nara/Kyoto (1B)

Transfer by train to Nara, visit Todai-ji temple, Nara deer park, Kasuga taisha shrine and Nara Nagomikan before returning to Kyoto.

Day 9 Hiroshima (1B)

Transfer by train to Hiroshima. Explore the Hiroshima peace memorial park, and take a boat across to the Itsukushima shrine with its floating torii gate, on Miyajima. Return to Hiroshima.

Day 10 Hiroshima/Kyoto (1B, 1D)

Transfer by shinkansen back to Kyoto, where the rest of the day is free for you to explore.

Day 11 Osaka (1B)

Transfer to Kansai airport, Osaka. Depart at any time.
