You'll join pilgrims and celebrate the renewal of the Tarboche flagpole, then embark on a demanding multi-day trek around the holy mountain which is said to bring good luck to whomever completes it. Explore Lhasa and experience unparalleled vistas of Mt Everest at its base camp. Day 1 Beijing

Arrive at any time.

Day 2 Beijing

Visit the Great Wall at Mutianyu.

Days 3-4 Trans Tibetan Rail Journey

Take a guided tour of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. On Day 3 in the afternoon depart on a 48-hour train journey to Lhasa. Enjoy the views while watching the scenery completely change as you climb onto the Tibetan Plateau.

Days 5-8 Lhasa (3B)

Orientation walk around Barkhor Square. Visit Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace and either Sera or Drepung Monastery from Lhasa.

Day 9 Ganden Day Trip

This is one of the 'great three' Gelukpa teaching monasteries of Tibet. There is a beautiful kora where you can circulambulate the the mountain ridge, it is a trek that will never be forgotten. Return to Lhasa for the overnight.

Day 10-13 Samding/Gyantse

Staying in basic guesthouses, the full kora takes two and half days to complete.

Day 14 Gyantse/Pelkhor gompa

Today enjoy the Sagadawa festival.

Day 15-16 Shalu/Shigatse

Visit Pelkhor Chode in the morning before continuing to Shigatse. Enjoy a visit to Tashilumpo monastery and hike the kora.

Day 17 Sakya

Visit the Sakya Gompa.

Day 18-19 Rombuk/Everest Base Camp

Hike to Everest Base Camp and visit the world's highest monastery.

Day 20 Zhangmu

Cross one of the most spectacular mountain passes, topped with prayer flags and wind-driven prayer wheels to the border town of Zhangmu. Cross the border and continue to Kathmandu.

Day 21 Kathmandu

Depart at any time.
