Day 1 Beijing
Arrive at any time.
Day 2 Beijing
Visit the Great Wall at Mutianyu.
Days 3-4 Trans Tibetan Rail Journey
Take a guided tour of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. On Day 3 in the afternoon depart on a 48-hour train journey to Lhasa. Enjoy the views while watching the scenery completely change as you climb onto the Tibetan Plateau.
Days 5-8 Lhasa (3B)
Orientation walk around Barkhor Square. Visit Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace and either Sera or Drepung Monastery from Lhasa.
Day 9 Yamdrok Tso/Gyantse (1B)
Drive to Gyantse, visiting Yamdrok Tso en route.
Day 10 Pelkhor Chode Monastery/Shigatse
Visit Pelkhor Chode in the morning before continuing to Shigatse.
Day 11 Sakya
Visit the Tashilumpo Monastery and Sakya Gompa.
Day 12 Dzongba
Travel day through beautiful scenery to reach Dzongba.
Day 13 Darchen
Another travel day to reach Darchen, home base for the kora trek. Follow the road across grasslands for the first spectacular view of Mt Kailash and Lake Manasarovar.
Days 14-16 Kailash Kora/Darchen
Staying in basic guesthouses, the full kora takes two and half days to complete. Spend the evening of Day 16 back in Darchen.
Day 17 Saga
Crossing the grasslands, drive south to Saga.
Day 18 Rombuk/Everest Base Camp
Hike to Everest Base Camp and visit the world's highest monastery.
Day 19 Zhangmu
Cross one of the most spectacular mountain passes, topped with prayer flags and wind-driven prayer wheels to the border town of Zhangmu.
Day 20 Kathmandu
Cross the border and continue to Kathmandu. Free time to explore the city.
Day 21 Kathmandu
