Enjoy the breathtaking rugged landscapes of towering mountains and exhilarating glacial lakes in Argentina. Experience the beauty of the Lake District and rugged treks in Patagonia before boarding the M/S Expedition for a 10-day cruise-of-a-lifetime. On your way to the frozen continent, you’ll conquer the Drake Passage, where three oceans meet, and encounter immense icebergs and thousands of penguins. With expert guides to expand on what you’re seeing, you’ll come away with like-minded friends and memories that will last a lifetime.

  • All meals included while on board the ship. (Allow USD $180 for meals not included on land. Drinks and tips while on the expedition ship are not included. For additional expenses see trip details.)
  • Comfort hotels (11 nights), On board the M/S Expedition in triple, twin-share cabins, or suites (all with ensuite bathrooms and a porthole or window) (9 nts). Please note that all cabins consist of twin sized berths and are outside facing. Suites have one queen bed.
  • M/S Expedition, Zodiac, Van, Public bus, Private bus, Taxi, Boat, Domestic flights, and Walking.
  • 10:1 = Guest/Expedition staff ratio. A G Adventures Tour Leader while in Patagonia, and a local guide for the Puerto Blest excursion.

Day 1 - Arrive Buenos Aires

Arrive in Buenos Aires at any time.

Day 2-3 San Martin de los Andes (2B)

Fly to San Martin de los Andes on the shores of Lake Lacar for two days of exploration of the Lake District. (Your flight is included with your package). You have the choice of a number of different optional activities including hiking, mountain biking, rafting and a 4x4 vehicle excursion.

Day 4-5 San Carlos de Bariloche (2B)

Journey southwards exploring the spectacularly scenic Seven Lakes Route to Bariloche. Explore on foot the forests and lakes in and around Puerto Blest and make sure to try some of its world famous chocolate.

Day 6-7 El Chalten / Glacier National Park (2B)

Fly to El Calafate and continue on to El Chalten and enjoy a full day hike in Glacier National Park, Argentina's first UNESCO National World Heritage site. (The flight is included with your package). Hike to Laguna de Los Tres for awe-inspiring views of the magical peaks and glaciers. The following day you have free time to do more hiking, take a boat trip or try ice climbing.

Day 8-9 El Calafate / Perito Moreno Glacier (2B)

Travel south through the Patagonian Steppes, keeping an eye out for condors, eagles, flamingos and rheas along the way. On Day 9 we will explore the Perito Moreno Glacier area, within Glacier National Park where not only your eyes but also your ears will be dazzled by the huge chunks of ice which regularly calve off of the glacier.

Day 10-13 Ushuaia / Tierra del Fuego / the Drake Passage (4B,2L,3D)

A short flight takes us to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. (Your flight is included with your package). Enjoy a free day in Ushuaia before boarding the expedition ship in the afternoon. Enjoy the sunset over the Beagle Channel as you head towards Cape Horn before a 400 mile crossing of the Drake Passage. Enjoy daily lectures from your expedition team and keep an eye out for the first sightings of icebergs, whales, and albatross following in the ship's wake.

Day 14-17 The Antarctic Peninsula & the South Shetland Islands (4B,4L,4D)

Experience some of the most unique wildlife viewing and inspiring scenery in the world as you set foot on the Antarctic continent. Attempt two shore landings per day (weather conditions permitting), and encounter gentoo, chinstrap and Adélie penguin rookeries, Weddell, crabeater and leopard seals, and orca, humpback and minke whales in the cold Antarctic waters. The peninsula also has a remarkable human history. During the voyage we will learn about some of the most important and dramatic expeditions to this remote corner of the world.

Day 18-19 The Drake Passage (2B,2L,2D)

Head back north across the Drake Passage to Ushuaia. Keep your eyes open on the observation deck for some final whale sightings! In between bird and whale watching and final lectures, relax and review the adventures of the past week.

Day 20 Ushuaia to Buenos Aires (B)

Disembark after breakfast and transfer by bus to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. (Your flight is included with your package).

Day 21 Depart Buenos Aires (B)

Depart at your leisure.
