With a landscape as diverse as Morocco’s, the transportation must be built to match. The simple pleasures of just getting around are essential to this activity-heavy excursion into the desert kingdom: mule treks into the Atlas Mountains, bike rides through ruggedly beautiful mountain passes, even a camel caravan to a campsite in the desert. But it’s not all tramping about in the dunes and hills; you’ll also have the chance to explore Essaouira, the fortified city on the Atlantic coast that was once a haven for pirates.

  • Overnight in a Berber tented camp with camel excursion in the Sahara Desert. Mule trek near Ouirgane. Hike in the Atlas Mountains. Essaouira orientation walk. Cycling at Tafraoute.

Day 1 Marrakech

Arrive at any time.

Day 2 Ouirgane (1B,1D)

Transfer to Ouirgane, mule ride up to Tasa Ouirgane.

Day 3 Ouirgane Valley (1B,1L,1D)

Day hiking around the Ouirgane Valley.

Day 4-5 Tafraoute (2B)

Transfer from Ouirgane to Taroudant and on to Tafraoute. Cycling around Tafraoute.

Day 6 Sidi Kaouki (1B,1L,1D)

Transfer to the Moroccan coastline south of Sidi Kaouki, then meet the camels for a trek along the coast. Stay overnight in a beach camp.

Day 7 Atlantic Coast (1B,1L,1D)

Full-day camel trek through remote villages, picnic lunch en route. End the day enjoying the stars with a mint tea at a beach campsite.

Day 8 Essaouira (1B)

Rise early for the final camel trek. Transfer to Essaouira for a free afternoon of optional activities. There's plenty to do in the city -- take to the surf or wander among the bustling souks.

Day 9 Essaouira/Marrakech (1B)

Free morning in Essaouira, then transfer to Marrakech in the afternoon for a final evening to explore the famous Djemaa el Fna Square.

Day 10 Marrakech (1B)
