Birthplace of several of the world's great religions and considered by many the cradle of civilization, the Middle East is a loosely defined area of incredible variety and dramatic contrasts. From secular, progressive Turkey to mysterious Yemen, the region's long history is on display at every turn, making the region an archaeologist or historian's dream. For centuries a political and religious hotbed, the Middle East luxhas been fought over since the time of Alexander the Great, and every twist of history has left its unique mark, from the varied, mouth-watering cuisine to architectural wonders second to none.
Morocco Active Adventure (DCAA)
With a landscape as diverse as Morocco’s, the transportation must be built to match. The simple pleasures of just getting around are essential to this activity-heavy excursion into the desert kingdom: mule treks into the Atlas Mountains, bike rides through ruggedly beautiful mountain passes, even a camel caravan to a campsite in the desert. But it’s not all tramping about in the dunes and hills; you’ll also have the chance to explore Essaouira, the fortified city on the Atlantic coast that was once a haven for pirates.
Highlights: Wander through the mountains on the back of a mule, get a new perspective on a camel ride, stay in beach camps and mountain gîtes, cycle through the Atlas Mountains

Recount the day’s exploits over home-cooked dinners each night from the comfort of your cozy accommodations. Designed with those who are fit in mind, the challenging but rewarding hikes are taken at a leisurely pace, allowing plenty of time to catch your breath, then the chance to lose it all over again while admiring the stunning views.
Highlights: Enjoy spectacular day walks, relax at a family gîte and savour home-cooked meals, help with a local village project, wander ancient medinas and bazaars in Marrakech
Climb Mt Toubkal (DCCT)
Jebel Toubkal, Morocco’s 4,167m-tall peak, has captivated mountaineers for centuries. Our ascent up the rocky giant of North Africa—the tallest in the region—is no picnic, but is accessible to anyone in good shape and hungry for a thrilling high-altitude adventure. Traditional Berber communities line the route on this trip, and you’ll have plenty of time to learn their customs through village visits and overnight camping with hearty home-cooked meals. The views on the way up are spectacular, but nothing compares to what you’ll see (and feel) at the top.
Highlights: Walking in spectacular mountain scenery, tasting delicious local cuisine, camping in the great outdoors.
