This week-long independent journey trip through fascinating and under-explored Northern Peru is ideal for the solo traveller eager to get away from it all. Beginning in Lima, you’ll travel north to uncover the lush and mysterious Chachapoyas region, home to the Gocta Cataracts—the world’s third-highest waterfall—and Karajia and Kuelap, two of the area’s pre-Inca archaeological sites. There are so many ruins here that many remain unexcavated even today.

Day 1 Lima

Arrive at any time.

Day 2 Chiclayo / Sipán / Night bus

Fly to Chiclayo. Included guided tour of Sipán archaeological site and museum before travelling by night bus to Chachapoyas.

Day 3,4 Chachapoyas Area

2 days of guided visits to the attractions in the Chachapoyas region. Visit the the recently-discovered Gocta Waterfall, the third highest in the world as well as a guided tour to Karajia archeological site, while using Chachapoyas as a base.

Day 5 Kuelap Fortress / Night bus

Guided tour of the ruins of the Kuelap fortress before travelling by night bus to Chiclayo.

Day 6 Lima

Free day to explore Chiclayo or relax from the hotel before flying back to Lima in the evening. Tour ends at the airport.
