Drive the scenic Pacific Coast Highway, ride a bike around Monterey and eat on Cannery Row, lounge on the beach in Santa Barbara, walk the hilly streets of iconic San Francisco, search for stars in Hollywood
We haven’t seen the original blueprints, but the Pacific Coast of California seems to have been custom built for road trips. Climb in and prepare for eight days spent cruising around Los Angeles and up the scenic Pacific Coast Highway, stopping in Santa Barbara, checking out San Simeon and Monterey, exploring San Francisco on foot, playing in the surf and generally having the time of your life, Cali-style. The best part? On this road trip, we do all the driving.
Arrive at any time.
Drive out of LA with stops along the way to Santa Barbara. Stop at a food truck, a local specialty, for lunch. Arrive in Santa Barbara and check out the wares at the weekly Arts & Crafts Market by the ocean. On Day 3, explore the city and surrounds with optional surf lessons, bike rentals, kayak rentals, a vineyard tour, local microbrew tour or whale watching.
Drive up the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and enjoy the view. Stop along the way in Solvang and San Luis Obispo. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Pismo Beach. Opt to rent a dune buggy.
Another gorgeous drive along the PCH. Visit the elephant seals and stop for photos. Great food options abound with dinner choices including the restaurants on Steinbeck's famous Cannery Row. On Day 6, enjoy an included Surrey bike rental and options like kayaking or visiting the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Finish the scenic drive in San Francisco. Enjoy an orientation walk including Union Square, Chinatown and Fisherman's Wharf. Opt for an evening sunset sailing trip.
Depart at any time. We highly recommend booking pre- and post-accommodation to fully experience these famous cities.
