For Zanzibar/Tanzania: You will be able to obtain a 3 month visitors’ visa at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, or at the Zanzibar International Airport in Stone Town.

Visa costs: US and Irish Citizens USD100 / Other Citizens USD50 – you can purchase this upon arrival at the airport.

Please specify ‘holiday’ visa (number 6) on all entry forms that you fill in at immigration on arrival at the airport. You should have a passport valid for at least six months after your arrival date in Tanzania, so please check the expiry date.
Note: it is advisable to bring a photocopy of your passport in case you lose the original.

You will also need to purchase an ADDITIONAL volunteer visa once you are at the project, our Zanzibar project manager will assist you with arranging this visa once you are at the project. This additional visa will cost you an extra USD200 and you will need to bring a colour photocopy of your passport and 6 passport photos with you please.
