Department: Software Engineering, Toronto, Canada
Reporting to the Director of Platform Systems, the Manager, Financial Systems is responsible for the management of the team that develops and maintains all financial software systems. Ensuring system stability, uptime, performance, and high customer satisfaction are key metrics for success.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the software development team that designs, builds, and maintains all Financial Systems: Cognos, TM1, Great Plains, SSIS
- Collaborate with the Director of Platform Systems to establish a development roadmap and strategy, define project timelines
- Prioritize a high-volume of competing tasks (both proactive and reactive) in an extremely fast-paced environment, manage stakeholder expectations
- Capture upcoming business needs from internal stakeholders to plan and scope future feature development
- Identify engineering challenges to architect and implement scalable solutions
- Devote a percentage of time to systems and report development
- Implement reconciliation processes across data sources used for reporting
- Mentor team members with respect to best practices and internal standards
- Conduct interviews to assist with hiring qualified team members
- Monitor team member performance, set individual goals, meet for regular 1-on-1s, and perform yearly reviews
- Improve team engagement within G Adventures as a whole
- Work with the Technology management team to define departmental policy, process, and procedures
- Define performance standards and ensure adherence to those standards
- Research new or existing technologies that would benefit customers
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in a Financial Systems Analyst , Systems or Data Developer/Analyst position
- Experience with managing a technical development team
- Knowledge of Financial ERP systems
- Understanding of development concepts for Budgeting and Forecasting tools (and associated process), ideally IBM Cognos TM1
- Some experience in developing basic reports, ideally knowledge of BI tools and data architecture
- Knowledge of Data Warehousing and Data Integration concepts, tools, workflows, challenges and solutions.
- Excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills
- Strong leadership, motivation and interpersonal skills
- Communicates, manages effectively both horizontally and vertically
- Able to explain complex technical solutions to non-technical staff
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including system and process documentation
- Knowledge of software development life cycles and Kanban/Agile methodologies
