Catch a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge on the way out of one of America's most popular cities. Drive into the Sierra Nevada Mountains and set up camp.

Day 3Yosemite National Park(1B, 1L, 1D)

Enjoy a free day in Yosemite National Park.

Day 4Yosemite National Park/Bishop(1B, 1L, 1D)

Awe at the spectacular scenery along Tioga Pass. Marvel at tufa rock towers at Mono Lake. Opt to soak in secluded natural hot springs.

Day 5Bishop/Las Vegas(1B, 1L)

Visit a land of extremes in Death Valley National Park. Explore Las Vegas and stroll along the famous Vegas Strip. Take an optional VIP party limo.

Day 7Las Vegas/Grand Canyon National Park(1D)

Travel Route 66, then arrive at the beautiful Grand Canyon. Enjoy a bird's-eye view of the Grand Canyon with an optional helicopter flight, then enjoy a sunset at the edge of the Grand Canyon.

Day 8Grand Canyon National Park(1B, 1L, 1D)

Enjoy free time in Grand Canyon NP.

Day 9Grand Canyon National Park/Monument Valley(1B, 1L)

Drive along the southern rim of the canyon, then opt to discover one of the most majestic places on earth, Monument Valley, on an optional overnight excursion.

Day 10Monument Valley/Durango(1B, 1L, 1D)

Wind up the side of a mountain through Mesa Verde NP's rocky slopes and inspiring vistas. Hike to ancient cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde before continuing on to Durango.

Day 11Durango/Santa Fe(1B, 1L)

Continue to Santa Fe and dive into the Southwest culture in this historic city.

Day 12Santa Fe/Carlsbad(1B, 1L, 1D)

Stop off at infamous Roswell en route to explore the Carlsbad Caverns, dodging the 400,000 bats heading out to hunt at sunset.

Day 13Carlsbad/San Antonio(1B, 1L, 1D)

Cross into the state of Texas, the birthplace of Tex-Mex food, 10-gallon hats, and Western movies.

Day 14San Antonio/Houston(1B, 1L, 1D)

Visit the Alamo in historic San Antonio, deep in the heart of Texas, then continue on to Houston in the afternoon.

Day 15Houston/New Orleans(1B)

Crank up the jazz and drive into the home of Mardi Gras. Explore the French Quarter, and join the revellers on Bourbon Street 'til the early hours.

Day 17New Orleans/Memphis(1B, 1L)

Explore the vibrant cultural and musical melting pot of Memphis. Take an optional tour of Graceland, opt to relive history at the National Civil Rights Museum, or tour the Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum. Head to Beale Street at night for great food and live music.

Day 18Memphis/Nashville(1B, 1L, 1D)

Take an optional tour of Graceland. Travel to the country music capital of the world and, at night, become immersed in local music in downtown Nashville.

Day 19Nashville/Appalachia(1B, 1L, 1D)

Travel the beautiful winding roads through the Appalachian Mountains and absorb their undisturbed natural beauty.

Day 20Appalachia/Washington DC(1B, 1L, 1D)

Pass through Shenandoah NP, and opt to take a short hike. Visit Arlington Cemetery, and arrive in the US capital in time to wander the monuments by moonlight.

Enjoy free time to explore.

Day 22Washington DC/New York City(1B, 1L)

Dive into the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple. Opt to visit Times Square or stroll through Central Park. Check out the famous nightlife in NYC.

Spend the morning exploring the USA's biggest urban playground.

Day 24Newburgh/Finger Lakes(1B, 1L, 1D)

Enjoy a day out in nature taking in the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes region. Visit towering Taughannock Falls, cool off in the lake, or sample wine from a local winery.

Day 25Finger Lakes/Niagara Falls(1B, 1L, 1D)

Get wet on the Maid of the Mist boat tour, and be sure to check out the falls illuminated in the evening.

Day 26Niagara Falls/Sandusky(1B, 1L, 1D)

Travel to Cleveland and opt to tour the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Continue on to Sandusky, and opt to be thrilled at a local amusement park.

Day 27Sandusky/Chicago(1B)

Walk along the river to Millennium Park, enjoy dazzling music, and stroll the boardwalk of the Navy Pier. Opt to ride to the top of the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower, then hit the town for a night out with the group.

Free time to explore Chicago.

Day 29Chicago/Winona(1D)

Tour the Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee. Explore charming Madison, Wisconsin's state capitol, on the way to the a campground on the banks of the Mississippi.

Day 30Winona/Kennebec(1B, 1L, 1D)

Venture into South Dakota and head into the lands of the Sioux and the Great Plains. Stop at Sioux Falls and take in the beauty of the green hills and cascading water.

Day 31Kennebec/Badlands National Park(1B, 1L, 1D)

Discover moon-like landscapes on the trails of the Badlands before reaching the Black Hills.

Day 32Badlands National Park/Custer State Park(1B, 1L, 1D)

Take a final look at Badlands NP en route to Custer State Park. Dodge free-roaming bison herds while exploring Custer's diverse lands.

Day 33Custer State Park(1B, 1L)

Enjoy the Black Hills; trek around Mount Rushmore, which honours US presidents, and tour around Crazy Horse Memorial.

Day 34Custer State Park/Devils Tower(1B, 1D)

Travel back in time to the Wild West at the once illegal settlement of Deadwood. Marvel at the scenery of Spearfish Canyon on the way to Devils Tower.

Day 35Devils Tower/Cody(1B, 1L, 1D)

On the way to Cody, the "Rodeo Capital of the World," drive through the Bighorn National Forest. Opt to go to an authentic rodeo (seasonal).

Day 36Cody/Yellowstone National Park(1B, 1L, 1D)

Travel to Yellowstone, the world's first national park, and be in awe of the colourful geysers, powerful waterfalls, exciting wildlife, and contrasting scenic beauty around every corner.

Day 37Yellowstone National Park(1B, 1L, 1D)

Spend the day exploring the highlights of the Southern Loop.

Day 38Yellowstone National Park/Jackson(1B, 1L)

Cross the Continental Divide en route to Grand Teton NP. Enjoy the view of more than 12 peaks that make up this beautiful drive. Opt to visit a cowboy bar for Western line dancing and live music.

Day 39Jackson/Salt Lake City(1B, 1L, 1D)

Opt to go horseback riding or rafting down the Snake River. See the sights of Salt Lake City and tour Temple Square.

Day 40Salt Lake City/Tonopah(1B)

Travel the 'Loneliest Road in America' towards Tonopah. Check out one of the best night skies for some stargazing in an old silver mining town.

Day 41Tonopah/Yosemite National Park(1L, 1D)

Marvel at the spectacular views of Yosemite National Park's magnificent peaks and granite domes while enjoying one of most scenic drives in California: Tioga Pass!
